|
|
About 20 years ago, when my husband was married to his first wife, and feeling really stressed, and perhaps a bit sorry for himself (his marriage was very negative) he encountered a very old black woman.
Now he was working in his shop, he was the owner and operator of a ornamental iron company, anyway, he was behind on a job, and very angry, stressed and feeling a bit over worked and under loved.
Suddenly, this old black lady showed up at his shop door, (his shop was fairly isolated, and away from other businesses and homes.) she was very kind looking and was holding a grocery bag in each hand...she was very soft spoken, and asked if he could give her a ride into town.
My husband, who honestly is the kindest and gentlest man I have ever known, told her NO, he was far to busy, but would give her money for a cab and call one for her....he turned towards his 'office' to use the phone and offer her the money, and she just smiled and said, "No, No, that is okay, God bless you" and walked out of the shop.
Any way, he just grumpily went back to working, then about two minutes later, he said it felt as though his heart was so heavy he could barely breathe, and tears filled his eyes...he ran out the front of the shop and looked up the street and back down...she was gone.
Now what you have to understand one could see up both sides of the street a good half mile, and this road was not 'well traveled'
No dust (it was a dirt road) that would indicate a car just drove by, and this little lady was so old, she could not have 'ran' anywhere especially with two bags of groceries.
Until this day, my husband thinks on this when he begins to feel overwhelmed--To him, this was an Angel reminding him to be who he is, regardless of what is happening around him at the time. _________________ Merry Meet, Merry Part, Merry Meet Again

Tracian;
What a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing!
It made me think of that song "What if God was one of us"

| I think that was quite an experience for your husband and a reminder to us all to be kind no matter what we are going through at the time. Which is a lot harder to do than to write on a message board. A definet intervention by an angel in my book. |
