I think I have just been exiled from the CourtTV message board. I think I've figured out why so many of my posts have been erased, at least in some cases. I have mentioned, negatively, Political Correctness. And the administrator is nothing if not politically correct.
And I have mentioned women's underwear. It was in response to other posts, but what others can mention seemingly I can't. Howver in the latest case, it's obvious both why the post was erased, and why the next post resulted in my expulsion. The next post was one in which I mentioned that my previous post had been erased. I think that's enough to get you punished.
The post which probably determined my fate was one in which I mentioned another message board. My post went something like this. (I didn't copy it.)
_____________________________________________________________
In response to Ex-Navy's post complaining that the women are being sexist, talking about things like bras.
_____________________________________________________________
A few years ago I found myself on a message board that I at first didn't recognize as a feminist board because I was unable to translate the title of the board. So I was seeing a large variety of threads from people whom I later determined to be mostly girls from age 11 to age 24, along with a number of older women (mostly 20s, some 30s) and a sprinkling of males. All the females knew that their were males on board but they were general very frank and kept saying that they were glad that there were males on the site. I and the other men avoided, for the most part, commenting on the threads that turned out to be "growing up girl," but we had to read some of them to know what the thread was about. (Off-topic posting was not unknown there, as everywhere.)
I was somewhat taken aback by one post, by a girl born in Germany, who didn't care for either tampons or absorbent pads, but preferred sea sponges.
_____________________________________________________________
I can see why the post was erased before even being posted. I don't think I deserved execution. But such is life. My only complaint about this board, so far, is that I can't Bookmark it or list it as one of my Favorites. Tried several times with no success. _________________ According to Smokey,

To my great surprise, I can still post on the CTV message board. What did I do wrong?
I want to post a thread that might lure a few comments here, but I'm somewhat intimidated by the presence of Quiscalus. She seems to have high expectations of me, and I fear that anything I can offer will be a disappointment to her. I'm not nearly as interesting as I occasionally, by a stroke of luck, appear. Nor am I nearly as high-minded as she may think. In fact, I'm quite low-minded, as my next thread is bound to show. _________________ According to Smokey,

There was a weekend board again. Most of the other forums were locked.
Were you trying to post on the locked forum?
Or were you 'timed out' for the weekend and not able to post even on the weekend board? |

Truthfully, I can't really remember what my problem was, probably a combination of things, plus my somewhat pessimistic view of the world in general.
Thanks, Qubilai, for your attempt to relieve my mind, or point out the possible source for my mistake.
Am I wrong in thinking we had a brief exchange in a thread on CTV? It was about your nom, a version of Kublai Khan, grandson of the great Genghis Khan. If that was the case, I told you about my cat, Genghiz Khan, probably at great length. Right now I could talk about my new cat, Maximilian, at great length, because that's precisely what most greatly characterizes him--his great length. His tail stands up like one of those meerkat tails you see on Animal Planet. Or rather, that I see on Animal Planet. _________________ According to Smokey,

No that wasn't CTV, it was here on one of the other threads.
I post on CTV as Doc Holliday. Before that I was Uriel. Before that I was AvengingAngel. I went from an Angel theme to a Western/poker/whiskey theme.
Quiscalus is on vacation right now, I think she said. She is traveling and unable to post. |

| Menstruation, and anything associated with it, is one of Coldwater's biggest hang-ups. Just so you know. Masturbation is another. Anything to do with the human body bugs the living crap out of her. |

I once noticed a thread on the CTV board about "Do you remember your first kisse?" or some such. It's the kind of question that probably appeals to a lot of the members as they grow older and nostalgic. It may just be my technical inexpertise, but I think Coldwater erased the thread almost immediately. Kissing sounds like sex, I suppose. There was another thread which turned in an unexpected direction with posts noting that in some jurisdictions, like New York City and Canada, going topless is legal (even for women). I'm not sure if the whole thread got quashed or only the posts containing the word "topless."
I probably have a dirty mind, like all men, but I think it ought to be fairly easy to distinguish childish harping on vulgarisms from reasonably serious discussion of topics that may have some connection to anatomy, or even (tut tut) sexual matters. Personally, I'm not even sure the adult participants on the CTV board (or this one, for that matter) need protection against sexually suggestive jokes, although telling jokes was never my forte.
Ah, take the cash and let the credit go. _________________ According to Smokey,

That's what I like about DurhamDawg--succint and to the point, no shilly-shallying. Pretty much right, as well.
I wrote my earlier posts on this thread quite a while ago. Is Qubilai still aboard? I'm surprised and disappointed at how naive I seem. And still am. But perhaps my posts above show me too much as the low-minded person I am and too little as the high-minded one that I sometimes pretend to be. Both types can reside in the same body.
However, I made some premature assumptions about being found persona non grata on the CTV board. While I'm sure Coldwater has her opinions about me (is that too presumptuous of me?), she apparently has never thrown me off the board even temporarily. There's no penalty for being clueless, apparently. Qubilai is probably right in his suggestions.
