Hi all,

Some of you who've posted on the CTV Religion Board might be aware of me. My nic is quiscalus. I'm happy to see some of the people I know from there, HERE, and I hope to get involved in some really intelligent and thoughtful discussions.

Cheers to Tracian for starting this board, and thanks to Ghengis (if I have his nic right) for informing me of it!

Hi, Q! Good to see you here. As you probably have heard, I got banned from CTV again. CW won't tell me why, but I think it is because I posted a thread asking "What is a bannable offense?" because I'd previously been banned from the politics board for "sarcasm," which CW has apparently decided is a bannable offense, although it's not in the TOS. Apparently, just having the temerity to ask the question is itself a bannable offense! Who knew?

BTW, Temp 2 Perm was the brownnoser who went crying to CW about my "sarcasm" (I said I though CTV posters should have to use dictionaries, in response to a post in which about half the words were misspelled) and got me banned, I believe.

I've about had it with the CTV site. I enjoy many of the posters there, but the horrendously bad moderating has caused me, like many others, to give up on that board. Too many of the smart, funny, interesting people have already left, unfortunately, and the place gets more dumbed-down and dull every day. About the only safe topic left to post on is "what's for dinner?" So, I plan to participate here more frequently instead. And if anybody knows of any other good general interest message boards, please post links to them. One good thing about CTV was that it gets a lot of traffic, so I am hoping to find other boards with similar high traffic, but sane moderating, which would be a really nice change of pace.

OK, so I had the wrong "Khan," but I was on the right track, you! You know my memory!

DD, good to see you. I found out about the banning when I attempted to pm Mr. Khan here and was blocked. Fortunately I had an e-mail of his, and he told me the entire sordid story, which I promptly passed along to some other of the good folk on the Religion Board whom I knew would be upset.

Glad we've not lost touch, DD!

I'll be around more in a few weeks; things are winding down at my job (the livin' IS easy during the summertime at my job), and NYC summers are so awful I spend most of the time indoors anyway. So I'll be around more soon!

Quiscalus, if you like, feel free to tell anyone over at CTV of my departure. Right now, I don't plan on coming back. I had a lot of fun there, but the moderating has just gotten to be too intrusive and oppressive for me, and I've decided I need not continue subjecting myself to it.

I googled "court tv message boards" and found a number of complaints and even a petition dating back several years. People have been complaining about the moderating on that site for a long, long time, apparently to no avail whatsoever. CW's superiors don't bother answering anyone's emails complaining about her capricious and biased moderating. My guess is that those boards will probably disappear when CTV undergoes its upcoming format and name change, so the powers that be are just letting CW play favorites, make up her own rules, treat people unfairly, ban people she doesn't like, etc. because there's no point in fixing something that's about to go poof anyway.

Q, I hope you'll invite some of the more intelligent and interesting CTV people to join this board.

When I first learned about the banning of you and others (Chronictonic, who apparently seconded your request for less arbitrary rules, was also banned, I noticed), sansecular was among the people I pm'd. I figured he'd been banned so many times that he might know of a "higher authority" to whom I could take my protest. He's quite sure there is none, which makes the situation even more hopeless.

Well, eventually they'll be reduced to a board containing a lot of people calling each other names because they disagree about Anna Nicole Smith. Good riddance, I say.

Yes, many of the smarter and more interesting posters at CTV have already been driven off, and more leave every day, so the place gets dumber and more boring all the time. "Good riddance" sums it up nicely. I've lost any desire to participate there. It's just not worth the cost in BS.

I was just banned. Interesting thing is that my posts haven't been deleted, yet. So, anyone can go look and see that I haven't said anything close to being a TOS violation there. Heck, I was being overly nice, even commending some believers. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait until registration opens again.

Also, it seems like as soon as I was banned, the more venomous believers started to post there again, like Patriot and Skytalk. Coincidence?
