yahoo! so glad to find some peeps who are hooked on this show too!
did anyone notice? the opening sequence of this show ties in a lot of mormon stuff.
First, there is Bill Paxton with the light shining on his face... that directly relates to the way Joseph Smith (the first Prophet of the church) is depicted in many pictures - his face tilted upward, bathed in a bright light. (because he was supposedly visited upon by god and jesus). If you google pics of Joseph Smith, you'll see what I mean.
Then, there is (of course) the wives each coming to him, all holding hands, circling around. Then, the ground cracks, and they are separated.
Next is the neat way they tied in how Mormons believe that once we die, the husband will find his wife "through the veil" by calling her by her secret name. (a name given when you go through the temple ceremonies) That's why you see Bill searching through those white curtain looking things.
Cool, huh? _________________ Where there's a witch, there's a way.

I guess I am a softy, because honestly, I do see the beauty in all religions, but then again I also see the less then beautiful side...but the beginning to BIG LOVE and the song is so moving, I just find it, in a weird way, romantic..yeah I know that is why I said weird.
Now....ohhh this last episode was so good...I want to kick Cindy's boney ass...and just when I want to bitch slap Nikki she shows herself to be loyal, faithful and supportive of the other wives...sheesh no wonder I am hooked.
Only two episodes left until the season ends....so Snowy...speak to me!!! what did you think?????
I thought it was very well done the way Margene had her 'revelation' and even kinda confronted Pam.

last night's episode is just another testament to the outstanding job HBO does of bringing award-winning shows into our living rooms every sunday night.
Bringing in this new character of Cindi, the smarmy sister, is brilliant!! I can't help but wonder now... will Barb become deathly ill, opening up the door for Cindi to try and take the children away?
Margene and the crayon in the dryer was hysterical! I felt sooooo badly for her.
And the snoopy neighbor Pam... SHE's not going away quietly into the night, nosirree!
The baptism was very realistic... Bill in white, the way he held the person being baptised, the way he looked to Ben to make sure that the submersion was complete - that's all stuff they do in the church.
And Nicki... wow... well, SHE knows what it's like to be less than 'the best'... I expect she'll have a lot more sneaky stuff up her sleeve. But yes, the fact that she came to Barb's defense was great... although - you can't help wonder how much of that was for selfish reasons and how much it was because she really cared about the family and wanted to defend them. _________________ Where there's a witch, there's a way.

uuuggg!! Pam is annoying as HELL...and well Nikki, even at the Baptism she looked like she was happy that Margene was suddenly so ready to embrace her life....but see that is my problem, I seek out the positive in people...makes my husband crazy sometimes
Cindy is gonna be a problem. I think she is going to try to turn the kids against the family as it is--and that is when I think Sara, though she is not 'on board' with polygamy is going to get her hackles up because of her mom--perhaps realizing that her mom is not just doing this because of 'loving dad' but because it was in her heart what she was 'called to do'
anyway you slice it, it is going to be a lonnnngggggg wait for next season
*of course Big Brother starts in June, and this season is gonna be GGGGOOOODDDD* _________________ Merry Meet, Merry Part, Merry Meet Again

to Nikki, everyone is a tool... a 'pawn' if you will. that's my take on her.
ok, and were you as embarrassed for Ben as I was when he had his first sexual encounter? _________________ Where there's a witch, there's a way.

I registered...not sure how much I'll post, but I'll check in.
I just love this show...the characters are so very well developed for a new series. Just when you hate them...there is something redeeming, and just when you really like them, you find a character flaw.
Just love, love, love this show!! |
