Snowy, one of my oldest and best friends is a Mormon; she converted from Catholicism before we even met.
I can't say I understand the Latter Day Saints, but most of them would probably say the same about my beliefs, so there you go. My friend is very much a feminist, so she butts heads with her Church at times...but I but heads with people in my Church all the time, too. (Not my pastor, though; he's cool.) My friend took me on an "open house night" at the big Mormon Temple on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It was fascinating. No one tried to convert me. Everyone was very nice.
And I must say, I was quite jealous: every LDS man I met there was incredibly good-looking. Maybe it's just Manhattan Mormons, but....YOWZA!
